A Family Day at the Washington County Fair

Today the purpose is to have fun!
We are happiest when we see our kids happy and growing. We are all happiest when we feel the spirit of love and goodness.

Can you guess what animal we are pretending to be?
Yes!!! A rabbit!
Behind us are bunnies of different breeds. They looked so soft, huggable and lovable :) We actually had the chance to pet one of them.
I wish Mom and Dad will buy me a bunny... - Emma

Hi Cows!!! Momma cows are huge and the calves are cuties!!

Enjoying childhood

https://goo.gl/photos/DyjF2smHaVYnD7KM7

Watching my kids having fun reminds me of my childhood. I have many good memories as a child. Kids life is "playing". I grew up in a small town but with lots of playmate neighbor kids. The games that I played with my friends and sisters were simple yet enjoyable! Here are some of them:

We call this "chinese garter". lots of jumping and strategies.

Jumping is timing!

Bahay-bahayan

Playing in the rain is so much fun! This was also our time to play boat racing made of paper.

Luksong tinik

Patintero

Tagu-taguan which we enjoyed playing at night when there is moon.

Hula hoop

Playing jack stone

Agawan base or sikyo which it would be advantageous if you run fast.

There were other games and activities that I have enjoyed like camping, going to the mall, playing at a playground, climbing up a tree, playing in the water and so on.I love my childhood! It was definitely full of fun and wonderful memories!

I would like my kids to enjoy their childhood as much as we can. Just "be kids"  by playing and having kid things.

A Day of Rest and Worship

I feel so fulfilled today spiritually. I was the teacher today in Gospel Essential Class. My lesson was on Sacrifice. As members of the LDS church, sacrifice means giving our time, all energies and earthly possessions in building His kingdom on the earth. The Lord commanded us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. (Matthew 6:33) There are many people that have set a good example for me to apply this principle in my life. I love the prophets from the time of Adam up to the present for their incredible love, service and obedience to the Lord. Many even lose their lives because of standing up for the truth. Jesus Christ's greatest sacrifice made it possible for us to become like Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother.

I remember when I was attending seminary class, my teacher defined sacrifice as giving up something good for something better. A place in Heavenly Father's kingdom is worth any sacrifice we have to make of our time, talents, energy, earthly possessions and lives.

The Four Fold Mission of the Church are:

1. To proclaim the gospel
2. To perfect the saints
3. To redeem the dead
4. To care for the poor and needy

Then this afternoon I had the opportunity as a ward missionary to welcome members and non-members who are visiting the temple. I had interesting and new spiritual insights as the two sister missionaries toured me around the temple. I am very grateful that this experience has added strength to my testimony of the sacredness of the temple and what it means to me personally.

Lastly, my kids asked us to play some of their favorite primary songs: Scripture power, I love to see the temple and When I am baptized. We have been teaching Emma about baptism. She will turn 8 next year and that is the age we baptize in the church. The kids are becoming more excited about visiting the temple and loving the scriptures because it talks about Jesus Christ. I noticed also that their prayers are more meaningful.

Kids' Superstar!

One of Kevron's stress relievers is playing basketball. Wherever we live, he joins basketball games. In fact, it has been and is a part of his schedule. He has fun and good friends to play with.

Our kids are his greatest fans! He is our Superstar!

The video was taken by our daughter, Emma...today. They had fun playing ball with Daddy!

A Heart with a Purpose

After deciding to serve a mission for our church, I goaled to read and ponder the Book of Mormon from cover to cover for a month. Each day, I found myself more and more committed to my goal. That was in fact , the first time in my life that I put my heart and mind into conscientious study of the book. I do not want to stop reading describing how I felt like unto Elder Parley P. Pratt, "eating was a burden... sleeping was a burden when the night came...for I prefer reading than sleeping". I have learned so many great truths about God, his matchless power and love for His people. I gained a better and clearer understanding of His divine nature and purposes and relating to Nephi's words.."I did liken all the scriptures that it maybe for our profit and learning"-1 Nephi 19:23. I became closer and closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ just as what the book had promised. Finishing reading the entire book, I found myself in tears. I was so grateful for his goodness towards me. That spiritual experience has strengthened  my desire, even more to serve the Lord. I promised to Him that I will sacrifice my personal life and devote myself to serving Him.

Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men. Therefore, oh ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve Him with all your heart, might, mind and strength that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day. Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God, ye are called to the work. For behold, the field is white already to harvest, and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul. And faith, hope, charity and love with an eye single to the glory of God qualify him to the work. Remember, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence. Ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you. Amen. Doctrine and Covenants 4

In the Missionary Training Center we were reminded of how sacred is our calling as missionaries.

MY MISSIONARY COMMISSION
by Elder Bruce McConkie

I am called of God.
My authority is above that Kings of the earth.
By revelation I have been selected as a personal representative of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is my Master and He has chosen me to represent Him- to stand in His place, to say and do what He Himself  would say and do if He were personally ministering to the very people to whom He has sent me.
My voice is His voice, and my acts are His acts, my doctrine is His doctrine.
My commission is to do what He wants done; to say what He wants said; to be a living modern witness in word and in deed of the divinity of His great and marvelous latter-day work.
How great is my calling!

Sister Person with Sister Roda (trainer)

One of the greatest things I learned on my mission is that "faith is power". Praying daily- morning, mid-day and night and regular study of the scriptures helped me be in tuned to the Spirit. It has strengthened my testimony, courage and confidence that has helped me face the challenges of the work and temptations of the adversary. I gained power to fulfill what was expected from me. I know that "the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save He shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which He commandeth them"- 1 Nephi 3:7

Self discipline and obedience goes hand in hand. These attributes are essential to our spiritual and temporal growth. Our determination to follow the Savior Jesus Christ is a mark of our loyalty to Him.

Love. I met people in different walks of life, different status in life.  I recall my eagerness in sharing the gospel with them because I know it is true and that I want them to know and understand the purpose of life...the Plan of Happiness! I want them to know how much Heavenly Father loves them!

My serving has given me inspiration and humility as I witness miracles in the lives of others who I refer to as my brothers and sisters. One particular experience was in my second area. One day, going to our destination we rode this brother's tricycle. We learned his name and we introduced ourselves to him. We gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon and was able to make a follow up appointment. On the said date, he was there. And he did read the verses we asked him to read. We then taught him the Message of the Restoration. And from that time on, we established a regular appointment with him. He had good questions to some of his reading assignments and lessons like Law of Chastity. As his knowledge of the gospel progresses, we have witnessed changes in his way of life. He is following the Word of Wisdom, he goes to church, read the scriptures and were in fact, he highlighted his favorite verses, he became careful about making good choices and so on. We have witnessed how his faith in the Lord has grown and feeling the spirit he accepted the invitation to get baptized. After my mission, I learned that he is still active, he has served in different positions in the church and what's the best part, he served a full-time mission! oh! How wonderful that is and I was filled with joy!

I have trusted in Him who is omnipotent, omniscient and perfect which leadeth me to a mature perspective.

Gratitude to the Lord is a deep expression of our reverence and dedication to Him. I am extremely grateful for life and for everything it has to offer me! King Benjamin exclaimed..."if ye should serve Him who has created you from the beginning and is preserving you from day to day, by lending you breath, that ye may live and move and do according to your own will, and even supporting you from one moment to another- I say, if ye should serve Him with all your whole souls yet ye would be unprofitable servants". -Mosiah 2:21 "All that He requires of you is to keep the commandments..."-King Benjamin.

My life has been richly blessed because of serving a full-time mission!

I will Follow Him

                                 https://goo.gl/photos/eovVtcdwVNtHYzjn7

The most enjoyable thing for me is watching my children play and listen to their conversation. They are just so delightful and full of life! The other day, I took my children to the park. There, I had a wonderful opportunity to watch them play together. I called it a "wonderful opportunity" for you will not witness moments like this forever. They grow up so fast and that one day they will leave your home. So take serious advantage of the time you have your kids. We do not own them. They were entrusted to us to care, nourish, teach and help them become good children of our Heavenly Father.

The Lord's work is "To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of men" -Moses 1:39. The Lord Jesus Christ on His visit to the Nephites declared, "Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect" -3 Nephi 12:48. I believe this is our ultimate goal. All of us who chose Heavenly Father's "Plan of Salvation" in the Pre-existence have the same goal. We needed a "world" to carry on the steps of becoming "perfect". Keeping our first estate (being spirit children of the Father) allowed us to be born on the earth through our mortal parents. Now, we obtained our "physical body" and have the opportunity to exercise our "free agency". Hopefully, we use this special gift wisely.

Heavenly Father loves all of His children. Just like in the olden times, He also called prophets that have the Priesthood or the authority to act in God's name, to guide and teach us the gospel of Jesus Christ in this modern time. "Thereby showing that He is the same God yesterday, today and forever. Amen."- Doctrine and Covenants 20:12.

Becoming like Heavenly Father requires great faith in His Plan and that through the Atoning Sacrifice of Jesus Christ it made possible for us to progress infinitely.

Who do I trust? I have enough!

"To be trusted is greater than to be loved". You can love anyone but you can't trust everyone. Usually, those who break your trust don't care much about you. For me, a person who knows how to "respect" is a trustworthy person. Trusting someone who continuously break your trust will lead to "pistanthrophobia". It is just extremely hard to trust those people.

This is very painful. I experienced this. I was ridiculed and persecuted a lot by "people" which I believe were morally wrong. However,  I was taken cared of miraculously. I am grateful and I know better.
